I aquired these speakers from original owner. MSRP New $218.00 Pair (1962)
1 Pair of Vintage Acoustic Research 3 Way Speakers
Model AR-2a, Made in USA, Serial # D6195 / D6205
Features; 3 Way acoustic suspension speakers, 10" Woofer, Two Mid 5" cone, Tweeter 1.375" dome. Crossover 2000/ 7500 Hz. Power handling 20W min x 100+ Max. Raw wire connectivity #1 Neg / #2 Pos with jumper to T (Tweeter) Two Pots to fine tune Midrange and Hi frequency sound.
Plywood construction with solid wood grill frame. Walnut veneer with a Shellac finish. Cabinets measure 24"H x 13.5"W x 11.5"D. There are instructions on the rear of the speaker cabinet.
My initial testing had all speakers working. I attempted to clean the pots with deoxit from the outside. All that seemed to acomplish is now the mids are no longer functioning. I really do not want to open them up so I am willing to sell them at a loss just to move them to someone with the passion to restore them.
Overall condition is good with some touchups on the finish. The bottoms have some peeling veneer issues.
